Welcome to the Green Women project, a transformative initiative aimed at empowering women in rural Mayuge District to address climate change challenges while building sustainable
livelihoodsThrough a holistic approach that combines climate education, empowerment, and economic growth, the Green Women project seeks to create a resilient and empowered community of women who are leading the way towards a greener future.

The Green Women Project is driven a profound understanding of the essential roles women play as caregivers, nurturers, and guardians of resources within rural communities.

The mission is to harness this influence and empower women with the knowledge and tools necessary to address the challenges posed climate change.

Through a holistic approach that nurtures climate education, economic empowerment, and community engagement, we are strengthening communities against the impacts of a changing climate.

Project Objectives:

  1. Climate Awareness and EducationWe aim to enhance women’s understanding of climate change, its impacts on their daily lives, and strategies to mitigate and adapt.
  2. Sustainable PracticesWe aim to empower women to adopt eco-friendly practices in their daily activities.
  3. Green-Skill Job TrainingWe aim to empower women to become entrepreneurs in green-skill industries such as organic farming, eco-tourism, and renewable energy.
  4. Economic EmpowermentWe aim to offer business mentorship, and access to micro-credit or savings programs, enabling women to establish and sustain their green-skill businesses.
  5. Community BuildingThe Green Women aims to create a supportive network of women, encouraging knowledge exchange, collaboration, and mutual growth.

Our Approach

  1. Climate Education: Through weekly sessions led a dedicated team of volunteers, we empower women with deep insights into the effects of climate changeArmed with knowledge, they not only protect their families but also pass down wisdom to future generations.
  2. Economic Empowerment: We support women in establishing green-skill businesses that align with local contextsThis not only enhances economic self-sufficiency but also contributes to environmental sustainability.
  3. Community Engagement: The creation of “green groups” fosters collaboration and knowledge-sharing among women, inspiring each other to adopt sustainable practices and embrace eco-friendly entrepreneurship.


The Green Women project is a catalyst for positive transformation equipping women with knowledge, skills, and resources, we’re not only mitigating climate change but also creating a community of empowered women driving sustainable growthTogether, we’re forging a path toward a greener, more resilient Mayuge District.

Project Impact

These efforts have led to increased understanding of climate impacts and the adoption of eco-friendly practices to 120.

We’ve have already formed four Green groups each consisting of 30 womenIn these groups we conducts two climate change awareness session and two economic empowerment sessions per month.

30 women have established business because of our economic empowerment sessions.

The Journey Ahead
While we’ve made significant progress, our journey is far from overWith a vision to expand to 100 green groups, we are poised to amplify our transformative potential across the district.

One of the most heartening aspects of the Green Women Project is how these empowered women are not just recipients of knowledge but also dynamic transmitters of itThey’re passing down the wisdom they’ve gained to their children, nurturing a generation that’s intimately aware of environmental issues and equipped with the tools to address them.
